Trauma Debriefing

Trauma Counselling

Trauma is an unpleasant emotional experience caused by a traumatic event that can happen to anyone of us at any time. The experience of such a traumatic occurrence can either be by witnessing such an event or personally experiencing it. When in such situation we often feel overwhelmed and our ability to cope is diminished. Trauma can also have serious long term consequences.

There are numerous techniques to deal with past traumatic events. Even if it is not a single event but a theme of traumatic incidents we can deal with it.

In South Africa however, we are constantly surrounded by crime and other situations that are common causes of trauma.

  • Accidents
  • Rape
  • Armed Robbery
  • Hi- Jacking
  • Death
  • Job Loss
  • Debt
  • Illness
  • Divorce

Most people will experience trauma at least once in their lives. Depending on the severity of the incident and the trauma caused, often trauma counselling offers the relief that is needed.

The best thing to do for an individual, who appears to be traumatised, is to ensure that they attend trauma counselling. Working with a therapist, individuals will learn how to accept and cope with their circumstances. More importantly, trauma counselling assists in protecting oneself from future trauma symptoms and worries.

Should you or a loved one need trauma support or counselling please contact us to set up a face to face counselling session.
